When it comes to choosing a driving school, whether it's Hinton Driving Academy or any other option in Louisiana, making an informed decision is crucial. We've compiled vital tips from both the Louisiana OMV and HDA to assist you. Explore all Driver's Education Providers here.
Before choosing a specific school, ask questions about the program, details regarding road-skills practice, the program’s accreditation status, the instructor’s credentialing process, how much liability the school carries, and the amount of parent involvement.
At HDA, we encourage prospective students and parents to visit our facilities. Our team is readily available to answer questions about our programs, road-skills practice, instructor qualifications, program accreditation, liability coverage, and our commitment to involving parents throughout the learning journey.
Ask other parents and teens who have recently participated in a program about their experience. Ask for recommendations. If available, review the postings on social media.
We take pride in the positive feedback we receive from both parents and students who have completed our programs. Our reputation within the community speaks to the quality of our instruction and the satisfaction of our graduates. Take a look at our reviews.
Although the classroom instruction is important, the behind-the-wheel training is critical. Not all drivers are the same, and some will need practice in certain areas. Make sure the school will teach at your teen’s pace.
HDA understands that not all drivers progress at the same rate. We tailor our instruction to suit each student's pace, ensuring they are comfortable and confident behind the wheel.
Driving schools should provide a minimum of 8- hours of instruction. Ask how those hours are spent. You want a school that spends plenty of time driving around the streets, but doesn't throw your child out onto the highway on their second or third lesson.
The Hinton Driving Academy emphasize safe driving skills over passing a test. Our instructors do not hesitate to recommend additional practice or instruction if a student is not fully prepared for the driver's test.
Research shows this partnership makes safer drivers. Lack of communication can lead to parents not reinforcing the lessons taught.
The instructors at the Hinton Driving Academy keep notes as they drive with our students to help the next instructor to prepare for the next lesson and also to give the parent important feedback about their teen's driving ability. The HDA use tools such as progress reports, real time GPS and speed monitoring (Shared with parent at request) and more to keep both the student and parent informed as to their progress in developing safe driving practices.
Choose a program that offers your teen maximized on-the-road driving lessons, as well as tips for you to continue supervised parental practice and involvement.
HDA provides a comprehensive behind-the-wheel training experience that exceeds the minimum requirements. Our instructors prioritize teaching in real-world traffic scenarios while ensuring students' safety and confidence.
The use of advanced technology such as simulators, fatal vision goggles, brake reaction software, and night sight meters can all play an important role in the training process.
Be sure to check and compare your driving school’s curriculum with state requirements.
Before choosing a school, make sure it has not received any disciplinary actions for violating licensing laws or rules.
Once your teen has completed the class, you become the supervisor and instructor of his training.
